Well renowned Santa Barbara, CA-based board shaper Brom will create several unique boards for the new line of versatile custom stand-up paddleboards
Santa Rosa Beach, Fla. (December 11, 2009) – YOLO Board, a Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.-based stand-up paddleboard company, has teamed up with renowned California surf legend and board shaper Steve Brom to design a new custom line of YOLO Boards for racing and performance surfing. The series features several distinct stand-up paddleboards such as the 10’6” Soul Searcher, the 12’6” Predator, the 14’ Prowler and the 18’ Pierce. Along with the standard production boards, YOLO Board will also feature Steve Brom-custom designed boards made in Santa Barbara to the personal specifications of the individual paddler. Brom has been engaged in recreational watercraft design for over 40 years working in various industry positions such as the Head Shaper at Dyno Surfboards and as a designer for Windsurfer International, Ocean Kayak Inc and Emotion Kayak Inc.
K5 has taken the plunge. The birth of KFive Paddlesurf Shop is solidifying it's place in history. With it's rich history in water sports and the brainchild concept of legendary retailer, Jurgen Schulz, it has made a statement that standup paddling is here to stay.
California paddlers have the best of both worlds. They can ride the crest of coastal breakers, find the many waterways for workouts and cruise through waves or rough waters. There are hundreds of paddle hot spots in the state, but we focused on three SoCal areas considered SUP-friendly and safe.
Organized by Coastal Urge the 1st Annual Southeast SUP Championship was held on September 26th 2009. The 3.5mile race was held at Dockside Restaurant in Wilmington, NC on the Intracoastal Waterway. Surftech was the title sponsor for the SE SUP Championship, which brought racers as far away as; Hawaii, California, and Florida.
Once again the SUP Gods have blessed another race with exceptional weather. The morning started out at a cool crisp 37 degrees and by noon we were approaching 77 degrees.
