Fundraiser on September 18th from 10:00am – 1:00pm in the Seaside Amphitheatre will benefit the South Walton Fire District Junior Lifeguard Program.  There will also be YOLO Yak Giveaway raffle for a brand new YOLO Yak, valued at $995.00 along with other raffle prizes.  All proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly to the South Walton Fire District Junior Lifeguard Program and Northwest Florida-based band HERITAGE will perform a free concert from 11:00am – 1:00pm.

“We selected the South Walton Fire District Junior Lifeguard Program as beneficiaries for this year’s fundraiser because we believe the program provides an immeasurable service to area children,” explains Tom Losee, co-founder of YOLO Board LLC.  “The program teaches the basics of water safety and rescue, and inspires the future watermen and women of our community.  We felt it to be a perfect fit for the YOLO Board Seaside Celebration.”

Founded in 2008, The South Walton Fire District Junior Lifeguard Program is a five week long summer program where children ages nine to 15 learn the principles of weather and water conditions, rescue techniques, beach safety systems, sun health and nutrition in an active, fun-filled team environment.  Under the Supervision of South Walton Fire District Beach Safety Director Gary Wise and South Walton Fire District Professional Lifeguards, juniors participate in relay-style drills, learn paddling techniques and get to experience what it is like to be a lifeguard.  After completion of the program, juniors are also eligible to compete in regional and national lifeguard competitions through the United States Lifesaving Association.

Popular local musical group HERITAGE (www.heritageband.com) returns to the celebration for a free concert in the Seaside Amphitheatre from 11:00am – 1:00pm.  An eclectic group of seven musicians, HERITAGE offers a mix of reggae, island rock, funk and R&B fusing band members’ varying cultural backgrounds and individual influences.  Founded in 2007 in Okaloosa County, HERITAGE performs locally and regionally and released their debut album Natural High in 2009.

The YOLO Board Seaside Celebration race events on Saturday, September 18th include both a Seven Mile Elite Race with over $5,000 of prize money and a Three Mile Recreation Race with prizes awarded for each division.  Stand Up Paddleboard celebrity guests Nikki Gregg and Chuck Patterson will host paddleboard camps September 15th – 17th in conjunction with the festivities.  The Cottage Rental Agency (www.cottagerentalagency.com) is offering special packages for paddlers and event guests ranging anywhere from $59 per night for a group home to $175 per night for a private cottage.  Rates are based on 3-night occupancy.  For additional information on special rates, please contact The Cottage Rental Agency at 866.966.2565.
